Managing the fear of unknown

Updated: Apr 4, 2020

A common hurdle in implementation of AI is not whether AI works as needed, but the fear of unknown. These fears range from “I need to get more hands on with data” to “this fundamentally changes how I do my work” to “This might render me jobless”. I have seen this before in my Business Process Re-engineering projects. As it was then, there are a few suggestions that might help. Be transparent about the change you plan to bring, plan the change and communicate at every step. It is all about ensuring that change is managed in a planned manner, and also in a way that opens more opportunities for all. If the communication plan is not in place before you start your AI implementation, you might end up with numerous rumors that lay the path for failure. In summary, it is not just enough to have a plan for managing change, but also a plan for communications included in your AI project plan. This is true for product managers building AI features as well. Provide as much support for change and communication in your product as possible. It will only help build practical AI. #abhayPracticalAI #artificialintelligence #ai #machinelearning
