The first step towards getting AI right

Where do I start when asked to add AI to my product or process? The first choice you make is an important one. AI can be implemented in many places and many ways.There are and will be many opportunities. But get the first implementation right, and the faith in AI will increase, resulting in more sponsorship. So look for a low hanging fruit. But a low hanging fruit that really solves a pain point. Else it remain a feature that no one comes to. Look for a pain point - typically where historical data can help make a decision better than deterministic rules. Look for enough historical data that can be used to build AI. Look for data skews that could through your implementation into doldrums. And finally look for champions that will work with you in getting AI right. These are not the only things you look for while selecting your first use case for AI, but definitely some major considerations. Built AI that not only works, but AI that will be used.
